Time line:


1903 - Was born in India

1911 - Went to St Cyprion's School in Eastbourne

1917 - Won a scholarship to Eton.

1921 - Joined the British police in Burma

1927 - Resigned from British police force

1928 - Journeyed to Paris

1932/1933 - Worked as a teacher in a private school.

1933 - Published his first book.

1934 - Got a part time job and published his first novel.

1935 - Published another novel

1936 - Published keep the Aspidisira Flying/married Eileen

1937 - Published 'The Road to Wigan Pier'

1938 - Published 'A Homage to Catalonia'. Started suffering from Tuberculosis

1939 - Published 'Coming Up for Air' novel.

1941/1943 - Worked for the BBC as Editor

1945 - Published 'Animal Farm'

1949 - Published his masterpiece '1984'/Married second wife Sonia

1950 - Passed away

Turning Points:

George Orwell grew dissatisfied and he resigned in 1927. He decided to become a writer. He also began living among the poor.
